You’ve picked out the person, the ring, the spot. Now you’ve got one job- to propose. Your photographer understands the importance of this mission so the key to captured success is all in the prep work!

This is what you need to discuss with your photographer before taking a knee.

SHARE HOW YOU’RE GONNA DO IT

Tell your photographer all the deets (no worries if you’re still fine tuning it, they can give you ideas/advice too)! The more they know the better, especially when it comes to identifying the predetermined “signal”.

EXAMPLE: Luke planned a picnic on the beach (their first date recreated), and determined that the signal would be when he stood up after suggest that they “go on a walk”. Once they were both standing, he held her hands in his, took a knee…and you can guess the rest.

PLAN YOUR OUTFITS

I know I know, what your photographer is wearing is not nearly as important as what you will be…BUT! It’ll be that much easier to spot each other the day of if you know what to look for!

Tell your photographer what you will be wearing, and have them tell you.

For this proposal, I wore a BRIGHT. RED. BEANIE. In summer. At the beach of all places but I knew there would be no way he would miss me!

MAP IT OUT

Be as precise as you can when narrowing down a meet up spot, especially if it’s somewhere huuuge like the beach.

SHARE YOUR LOCATION

For my iPhone friends, ask if you can share your location with your photographer 15 minutes before the planned start time. Having a real time update of how close you are to the proposal spot comes in handy, especially when trying to avoid raising any suspicion.
